The Project
Magna Projects carried out comprehensive system upgrades, including installing a domestic water system supplying showers, sinks, hydro-boil taps, toilets, and hot water boilers. A low-temperature hot water (LTHW) heating system was also implemented, connecting the plant room to radiators, underfloor heating (UFH), and other heat emitters throughout the office block.
A new plant room was built to provide heating, hot water, and boosted water. The project also included a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) air conditioning system for office cooling and a Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system for fresh air management. Dedicated extract fan systems were installed in toilets and kitchenette areas to enhance ventilation.
The Solution
The plant room features booster tanks, booster sets, Remeha Quinta Pro boilers in cascade, a calorifier, low-loss header, LTHW distribution pumps, a CORE pressurisation unit, a CORE dosing pot, a gas solenoid valve, and an expansion vessel. The pipework varied by system: copper was used for domestic water and blow-off lines, steel was used for low-loss headers, and stainless steel was used for LTHW distribution. CORE valves, pressure gauges, and thermometers were installed for accurate system monitoring.
Hot and cold-water systems were built using copper press fittings and multilayer pipework, while LTHW systems used stainless steel press fittings for durability and efficiency. Above-ground drainage systems were configured to handle discharges from kitchen sinks, toilets, and showers. All pipework was insulated with HVAC-grade mineral section foil-faced insulation, protected with Ali-Clad coverings, and bagged valves for a professional finish.
