CORE by SBS

The CORE range was devised by Smith Brothers Stores, an ISO 9001 accredited business with a rich history within the HVAC industry. By drawing from Smith Brothers Stores solid foundations, knowledge and supply chain expertise gained throughout their 125+ year trading history, SBS has ensured all CORE products offer the ultimate performance and standards you would expect from a leading brand. Product quality monitoring never stops, with all stock lines having audited systems and constant 360-degree feedback (customers, manufacturers and SBS staff members). This ensures the CORE range grows under the guidance of Smith Brothers.

125 Years of History and Expertise

Smith Brothers Stores’ origins date back to 1897 when founder Walter Smith began to lay the foundations of the most prominent family run commercial HVAC merchant operating within the UK.

The business has transitioned significantly from manufacturing boilers for the shipping industry to furnishing hundreds of mills built within Leicester and assisting with the war efforts before focussing predominantly on piping and HVAC supplies as the market grew in the 1960s.

Today, SBS remains family-owned, with 5th generation family members working within the business, which now consists of multiple branches in England, Scotland, and Wales and 500+ members of staff. They have remained focused on our brand promise of staff, stock and service, ensuring the customers are at the forefront of every decision whilst investing in quality.

ISO 9001 Credited

Smith Brothers Stores is the only distributor of CORE products and was responsible for creating the brand. With SBS being ISO 9001 accredited in quality management systems, it has ensured quality processes run through the bloodstream of CORE, with systems in place to identify any areas that may need improvement.

ISO 9001 is the international standard for Quality Management, meaning that specific processes within the company are monitored, tweaked and aligned to meet the required standards. Having partnered with BSi, Smith Brothers acquired and now strives to retain the ISO 9001 status as part of the business’s continuing success and growth plans.

Benefits of implementing ISO 9001:

  • Levels and quality of service
  • Increasing number of on-time deliveries
  • Reducing the need for returns
  • Identifying and resolving issues faster
  • Providing consistent, reliable and fit-for-purpose solutions

Environmental Focus on Packaging

Sustainability forms a big part of the CORE brand, and the preference, where feasible, is for all packaging used to be carbon eco-friendly and sustainable. Ultimately, we aim to minimise the use of plastic and other non-recyclable materials wherever possible, reducing our carbon impact as much as possible.
